Cape St. Vincent, Portugal to HERRNHUT, GERMANY

The beginning of chapter one, page one.
Chapter one, page two.
Chapter one, page three.

I began reading Red Moon Rising extremely excited because I knew of the correlation between it and Herrnhut. I was surprised when I read the beginning of the first chapter, it was speaking exactly of the last place I travelled while in Europe last year. I went to the most southwestwardly part of Europe with a couple I'd met at a church in Lagos, Portugal. It was a serene feeling being there and it's so interesting to read Pete Greig's take on it over a year later. I'm like wow Lord... you put significance in everything, and I can see if if I open my eyes.

My own photos taken at Cape St.Vincent last year, July 1st 2012 on my iPhone.

The road to Europe

Pete's journey and passion for 24/7 prayer began at the exact place I left off, and it took off hugely at the place I am going: the tiny little village called Herrnhut at the far south east border of Germany. He introduces it a little like this:

In 1722, a rag tag band of several hundred young people gathered on the estate of a wealthy count by the name of Zinzendorf. [ Who also happened to inspire my favourite youth event at the Harbour ;) ] Five years later, God showed up, and they began to pray. They prayed in strange and creative ways, but they prayed. They prayed 24/7. Their prayer led to compassion for the poor and those who had never heard of Jesus. Their prayer meeting went on for 125 years without ceasing- the longest prayer meeting in history.

God has decided to do again what he did among the Moravians almost 300 years ago. A 24/7 prayer meeting has started again, but now it has circled the globe overnight.

Does this movement have to do with the last days? Is there a red moon rising again? Pete Greig believes so. Guys like Pete have believed Jesus is coming back very soon for years- Jesus has not come back. Does that change anything? Not for me. It just means that the Spirit of God is awakening the hearts of young men and women all over the earth. He is creating expectation. Expectation is necessary for Jesus to return. He is not going to come back for a bride who is not prepared! Expectation is part of preparation. I see expectation growing in the hearts of people like Pete- and it awakens my heart as well.

Why all the fuss with prayer and stirring up expectation? So Jesus will be glorified in the earth. It's about Jesus hearing His name in languages He has never heard in heaven. That's the goal. More love for Jesus. More cultures and peoples set free to love him and enjoy him forever.

This is a movement birthed by the Holy Spirit that no one person or organization can control. But anyone can join in. Just listen like Pete did and start chasing the wind of the Spirit.

Herrnhut, 1765
I was not excited, and now I am. 12 days.
"Here I am, Lord send me."

And some more photos I took in Portugal since we were on the topic... this time from my Nikon:
